What are "Clean at Sephora" standards?

All products in the "Clean at Sephora" programme must meet the following criteria:
Our ""Clean at Sephora" seal indicates compliance with the criteria outlined below, which is focused on transparency in formulation and sourcing and the avoidance of certain ingredients. When you see our "Clean at Sephora" seal, you can be assured by the brand that the product is formulated without specific ingredients such as sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and more.

The "Formulated Without List" is our most current version. We have added to this list over time as new information has been made available, and will continue to do so as needed. The "formulated without" does not guarantee "100% free-from" since trace contaminants are possible. "Clean at Sephora" does not require brands to test for trace contaminants or guarantee 100% free-from, but we encourage our brands to engage in thorough contaminant testing of raw materials and final formulas.
